At war with yourself? Here’s how hypnosis can help…

erika renea larsen, cht., hypnotherapy, hypnosis, seattle, bellevue, life coaching, coach, tranceInner conflict is a problem that can wreak havoc on a person’s life.  Have you ever been at war with yourself, desiring something specific – yet against all efforts you are unable to meet your goal? For example, you want to save money, yet for whatever reason you’re not putting any away. You would love to get fit, but can’t seem to start or stick to an exercise plan.  You would like to lose weight but aren’t choosing the healthy lifestyle that will get you there. These examples illustrate a common thread within most people who have trouble reaching certain goals. Where some things may be easy for you to reach, others are nearly impossible. Frustrating, I know.

What is happening here is on a deep level. When we wish for a certain thing, like savings, weight loss, career change, quit smoking, no sugar, etc.,  yet a part of us can’t seen to get on board, we are experiencing inner conflict. Two conflicting sides of are keeping us from attaining your goals –  no matter how many times we say we will try, it never seems to happen. No only do I experience this myself, I also work with clients who engage in this internal battle on various levels.

Being at war with yourself means that what one side of us wants to change while another part of the us resists. The one side that wants this change is looking for a healthier/better way, yet the other side of them is sabotaging the effort. Usually it is because the subconscious mind is running an old program, has out dated beliefs, or has an underlying need that overrules any change to the status quo, perpetuating the issue, habit or pattern. Feelings of frustration, guilt or shame ensue for not getting the results they so desperately are searching for.

In hypnosis, the hypnotherapist is able to access to these two parts of a persons mind, unveiling the hidden messages and goals, creating a platform for communication and resolution to the conflict. This simple effective strategy is a powerful tool in hypnotherapy that allows the client and therapist to gain greater wisdom and understanding around the issue at hand. Furthermore, generating effective and tailored solutions for the battle to be resolved. In the end, the client experiences a win, effectively solving the war and ceasing the inner conflict.
