Happy Love Day to Me…Honoring the gift of self-love on this Hallmark holiday.

Single, married, or somewhere in-between, Valentine’s day is notorious for the gushy romantics and naysayers alike to go wild with enthusiasm for or against this love-centric day.  While Valentine’s Day (bottom-line aside) sends a message of love, how many of us are actually coming from a place of self-love first?  Are we focused on what we will or wont get this day, or what we should or shouldn’t give? Or, are we living in a healthy heart centered place, and what does that mean?  How often do we take the time to show ourselves kindness, today and beyond?

Yes, it is very important to give love (holiday or any other day), however if you are forgetting to show yourself love, how available will your heart be to give love?  What if showing yourself love created more space in your heart, mind and life to give greater love to others?

When was the last time you treated yourself to something special? Whether it was 30 minutes of quite solitude, treating yourself to a Barre class, a relaxing message, those sexy shoes you’ve been coveting, or a happy bouquet of gerber daisys; it’s something that brings joy and inner peace to your soul.  Don’t go crazy and max out your credit card with emotional purchases, this just counteracts the healthy intention… and I don’t want to be blamed for your financial pitfalls. But really, give yourself love too. When we do this, it helps us see more clearly, “Love is actually all around.” Hugh GrantLove actually.
